“The Modern Lovers”

Inspired by my love of the punk subculture and passionately rebellious youth, i found a romanticism in their hate and created this slice of urban life setup. It consists of two, roughly 8 ft. tall extremely heavy pieces of abandoned wood, which I proceeded to build stands for (in the back), then cover, tear, and recover posters of fictional punk concert flyers I drew and photocopied myself, using real band names such as The Circle Jerks. The center figure is painted in acrylic on 7 ft. tall panel, obviously resembling Sid Vicious. I attempted to interpret his figure in a sort of distorted Egon Schiele style. The broken beer bottles sitting on the floor were a last minute touch of realism.
